Whenever we venture to Candi Dasa on Bali’s Eastern, unspoiled shore, I marvel at the piles of coral on the pristine sand. The Balinese, careful to preserve nature’s gifts, don’t pull the coral off of the reefs, rather, they rake what’s there, grind it down, combine it with resin, and fashion it into marvelous jewelry creations. I always feel proud to wear a Bali “coral” design because I know that the great recycling Balinese have done there part to make natures, elegant detritus into wearable art."
